Allegri: “The Team Reacted Brilliantly After Going Down a Goal.”

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri spoke to the media following his side’s come from behind victory at home against Delio Rossi’s Bologna.

When Allegri witnessed his team go down by a goal early, it must have began to worry the Italian tactician. The former Milan boss, however, was extremely pleased with his side’s response and expressed his satisfaction at the result. The veteran manager told Mediaset,:

“We made two major defensive errors early on. We didn’t pay for the first one but Bologna scored on the other one. Before the goal we conceded,we had a chance to go ahead but Morata should have been less selfish. However, we did create a lot of chances following the goal. Overall, the team reacted brilliantly after going down. We had to win especially after our last two games in the league and with the upcoming international break.”

What’s the team lacking?

“We need to find a certain level of efficiency as well as stability. In some games, we have this stability while in others we don’t. We need to have more patience especially when moving the ball around. In the first half there were many occasions where we rushed it. In most games, you are not allowed to do this but we did it anyways today.”

Thoughts on the upcoming international break?

“We have to recover our fitness and we were less impressive than the game against Sevilla. The Champions League takes away a lot from a team but we must find continuity and consistency on the field.”

On Khedira’s influence:

“When a player is at Real Madrid for 4-5 years and is a pillar of the German national team, he’s surely an important player. At the beginning he struggled to find the rhythm but then he grew into the game. He has international quality that has not suddenly deserted him after six months. He’s a generous guy as well as a model professional.”

On Morata’s early season form:

“Morata has vastly improved his play with his teammates. Last year, he would always shoot instead of passing and then he would always pass instead of shoot. Now, he’s found the right balance between the two. That said, he’s still a very young man and he’s still growing and learning a lot of things. After the international break, Mandzukic will return and will be important for us.”

Are you worried about your team’s defense?

“The errors we have made until now in defense have been the result of a lack of attention and misfortune. Today, Blanchard registered another header but instead of finding the back of the net like it did against us, it hit the bar. We have to start playing with more confidence. That way we can gain a sense of security. That said, the team is still young and this is something that won’t happen overnight. We hope to recover important players like Lichtsteiner or even Caceres, when his suspension expires. Their returns will restore an element of experience back into the side.

Was there a mental problem with Juve?

“There was a bit of everything. There were ten new players that came in. Our season started on the tenth of September therefore patience is needed. What we did in September is not important. When you have players that are 21 or 22 year’s old you lose a certain element of experience even if they all possess immense quality. Khedira will be crucial while Marchisio is still injured. As a result of this, I believe that we can still improve a lot. We will calmly find a level of stability without getting the feeling that we will lose. Today, we gave the sense of this but with the help of everyone, we will improve in this regard.”
