Italy fullback Mattia De Sciglio spoke to the media after his side’s victory over Norway that saw them finish first in the group.
Milan defender Mattia De Sciglio started in both of Italy’s win over this international break and expressed his satisfaction at gli azzurri’s qualification to Euro 2016 as group winners. The young defender told Sky Sport,:
“Every time we get the chance to play with each other our chemistry grows. We’re all working towards the same end goal. Today, our goal was to win the game to finish in first place. Now, we have to set another goal moving forward: To do well at the upcoming Euros.”
What do you have to say to people who say playing for Italy doesn’t matter anymore?
“Tonight, we showed those people that this is not the case. Every time we take the field our objective is to do good because we’re representing our country. We always have to look to give our all.”
You’ve played very well in the last two games for Italy.
“The atmosphere over here is calm and there are several factors that are motivating me. It’s a different atmosphere training with Italy. Then, of course the team plays a major role in this. We must continue on this path.”
