Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa spoke to Sky Sport after leading his club to a 1-0 victory over Belenenses and moving on to the next round of Europa League.
Sousa was asked if he wanted to avoid facing Manchester United in the next round of Europa League.
“It’s nice to face these clubs, we want to honour the tournament and give a chance to those who play less to get some minutes. Europa League is different, I’m satisfied we advanced because we demonstrated our roster is competitive. We will see in February.”
Thoughts on Europa League affecting league play:
“We know when we deploy certain players our game is different. The formation is not important, it’s the players that are fundamental. There are players who render our method of play differently. There are adversaries who make things difficult for us but this helps us grow. Tonight it was fundamental to advance.”
