Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli are in the market for another midfielder and have set their sights on Ajax playmaker Davy Klaassen in the upcoming transfer window.
Chasing the Scudetto and tearing through the competition in the Europa League, Napoli are keen on bolstering their squad in January. One of their primary targets looks to be Ajax’s highly-regarded, young midfield maestro and club captain, Davy Klaassen.
Corriere dello Sport reports that Napoli have an €8 million offer ready and hope to convince Ajax on selling the coveted 22 year-old. However, as per Marc Overmars, Ajax’s Sporting Director, the club do not seem ready to sell: ”The offer from Napoli is very real but we will not give up Davy”. For the moment, €8 million may not be enough to lure him away from the Netherlands.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed earlier in the week that he would look to make one or two signings before the window closes. Whether Klaassen is one of them remains to be seen.
A born attacking midfielder, Klaassen has featured in all of Ajax’s 17 Eredivisie games this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 6 assists.
