After much criticism over the previous two results in Serie A, Milan boss Siniša Mihajlović expressed his delight with the 4-2 win on the road against Frosinone. The former Serbian manager spoke about the final match before the New Year
Mihajlović had some harsh words for the officials last week when they earned just the one point against Hellas Verona. However, on Sunday, he continued to defend his men and how they’ve performed despite all. Here is what he had to say in the post-match press conference (via acmilan.com):
“This is a win that we fully deserved. We had a chance to break the deadlock right away, but even after going a goal down, we dominated and created chances.”
“At the break, I told the players to stay calm and keep playing the way we were and that by doing that we would eventually win. The lads did well and never stopped believing. We won and that is what matters.”
“I think we just needed to be more patient with our approach and keep the ball until we found a way through. We were too hurried in our approach at times in the first half. Once we found the equaliser though it was all down-hill from there. We gave away two goals that could have been avoided but let’s look at the positive side. “
The Milan manager on Frosinone:
“Frosinone are a different side at home and we knew it was going to be hard. I liked the attitude my team showed today.”
He also praised Giacomo Bonaventura and Keisuke Honda for their performances today:
“Bonaventura has been one of the best players up until now. He was in doubt right until the last minute, but the club’s medical staff did a good job and so did he by getting on the score-sheet”
“Honda doesn’t have any need to worry. If he plays like he did today, he will always play.”
Lastly, the former Inter assistant explained that despite a few tough results earlier this season, the club has made strides forward:
“If we keep this up, we can climb back up the table. After the Napoli loss, we have picked up only positive results with the exception of the defeat at Juventus.”
“We have to keep this going and never give in. We are a close group and everyone is working hard for each other. There is a great team spirit and only by winning will we silence the critics.
