Recent reports coming out from Italy are saying that Sampdoria may take a risk on former Inter flop Ricky Alvarez in the January transfer window.
Sampdoria are ready to begin shopping for reinforcements in January. Lingering in the lower half of the Serie A table, I Blucerchiati are hoping that a few new signings can improve their domestic form. One of the names they have in mind is ex Inter and current Sunderland midfielder, Ricky Alvarez.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Alvarez will be in Italy on Monday but before Sampdoria take a risk on the Argentinian, a physical exam will be conducted. Sampdoria will make a decision on him after a medical is performed to evaluate his condition.
The 27-year old has not appeared for the EPL side since last season. Alvarez was the subject of a FIFA arbitration case between Sunderland and Inter after a clause was inserted in his contract where a mandatory option to buy would be activated should Sunderland survive relegation. Inter won the case and Alvarez became Sunderland’s property this season.
