Following the win, Florenzi expressed his satisfaction and explained the meaning behind the team’s celebration with Rudi Garcia.
Coming off an important 2-0 win at home to Genoa, goal scorer Alessandro Florenzi states that people saw the real Roma today. In regards to the coaching dilemma at Roma, the midfielder said,:
“It is not our job to decide the future of the coach. But we all agreed earlier that whoever scored, we’d all go over, even the bench players to embrace Garcia. Today we saw a group who gave the right response. If Szczesny had scored he would have done the same thing. We wanted to share everything with the coach.”
The midfielder then touched upon the fans’ involvement as well as his resurgent Roma side. Florenzi told reporters,:
“We aimed to send a strong message, not just everyone else but ourselves too. Today, we saw Roma, we saw a team who fought hard for 90 minutes and gave 110%. When you do that, you will win. I would rather think about the fans who sang at the 36th minute, then I scored moments later. The fans are our 12th man and I hope in the New Year they will come back. But we also need to give them better results and we hope that we can do that.”
When asked about Zdenek Zeman’s harsh comments about Roma from earlier in the week, Florenzi said,:
“Zeman can say and do what he wants. All I can do is thank him for what he has done for me. Everyone has got their own statements and opinions, it must be respected.”
