Antonio Conte was happy with the approach of his squad and satisfied with the type of response he received from them.
Following Italy’s 1-1 draw against Spain, Azzurri CT Antonio Conte spoke to Rai Sport about his satisfaction with his team’s performance:
The draw against Romania was an unfair one, we also conceded a goal on a set-piece again today. I was told that Aduriz’s goal was offside but it is what it is. We had a good attitude. I got the response I was looking for and it was not easy because we played against a strong squad. We must continue to work with humility, focusing on the enthusiasm of these boys. I have little to reproach them for, we must put our heads heads and keep moving forward.
Conte was then asked about his squad seeming to be more of a team in respect to Spain:
Yes but I can assure every Italian supporter that we will continue to be a team. This is a great group made up of good players who love to wear this jersey. We can stay calm, we will try to do our best. These are useful games to increase the international experience for some of these boys. I am disappointed with the draw, I wanted to win.
Finally, Conte commented on the substitutions that impacted his team’s performance in the 2nd half.
Candreva, Eder and Pelle did well in the first half. It is clear if at the 60th minute you can make three key changes, the story will change.
