On Sunday, Milan hosted Lazio at the San Siro. The clubs played to a 1-1 draw thanks to goals from Marco Parolo and Carlos Bacca.
Here is how we rated the performances of Milan’s players after their draw with Lazio.
Goalkeeper:
Donnarumma (7.5): The 17-year old played well once again in goal for Milan. His distribution was solid and he got a mitt on a potential goal to keep the game level at one a piece.
Defenders:
Abate (6.5): The speedy right-back masked some lapses in the defence by making up for it with his threatening pace. He fared well against a tricky winger in Felipe Anderson.
Zapata (6.5): The Colombian played fairly well alongside Romagnoli in the four-man backline. He was quick to cover his ground and made some key deflections when the fixture could have swung in favor of the biancocelesti.
Romagnoli (7.5): The Italian under-21 star was on his game once again, dispossessing Lazio on the break on several occasions. Romagnoli is easily the club’s best centre-half, and his performance today continues to prove that true.
Antonelli (6.0): The left-back lost his man on the corner which resulted in Marco Parolo leaping above to head home the opener. Antonelli did recover a bit in the second half, executing some key tackles in the defence, but this area of his game still needs to be improved.
Midfielders:
Honda (5.5): The Japanese playmaker had a bit of an off match. While his efforts and work-rate remained in tact, the ex-CSKA Moscow player spoiled a few dangerous free-kick chances that could have altered the outcome.
Montolivo (6.5): The captain returned to the starting lineup tonight in the 1-1 draw. His first half exploited the rustiness from being sidelined with the injury, but the Azzurri midfielder did recuperate well in the second half to earn a fair performance. Still, Milan need Montolivo to cut down on his errant passes because they led to Lazio jumpstarting on the counter.
Bertolacci (5.5): The ex-Genoa midfielder was once again suspect in the middle of park. He showed little urgency and did not appear aware of ensuing Lazio players who smothered him to regain possession. The same old from Bertolacci and it’s unacceptable.
Bonaventura (7.0): Jack was solid on the ball tonight in front of the San Siro crowd. His ball control, effort and willingness to earn fouls stood up, but unfortunately the rossoneri could not make the most of them. He also had a shot hit the post, which has been an unlucky trend in recent weeks for the club.
Strikers:
Luiz Adriano- MOTM (7.5): The Brazilian returned to the starting lineup for the first time since January and performed well throughout. He worked extremely hard and earned countless fouls in the attacking third. Luiz Adriano assisted Carlos Bacca’s goal by holding up possession before the Colombian latched onto his hold-up to slot it past Marchetti.
Bacca (7.0): The Colombian broke his scoring woes by bringing Milan level with his first-half goal. Luiz Adriano delievered a perfect ball right onto the foot of Bacca who made easy work of the chance. Still, with little chances in the box, Bacca still manages to provide a key goal when the club needs it most.
Substitutes
Balotelli (6.0): The Italian striker came on for Luiz Adriano to a flurry of boos from the home crowd. Despite all, the ex-Liverpool man did create a few chances and showed flashes of what he can do when his mind’s fully into the match.
Menez (5.5): The Frenchman relieved Honda late in the match but looked lost with his movement on the ball. He lost control, overrunning the ball a few times down the left flank. It still seems that Menez is lacking the fitness to make an impact.
