“We’ll take a point tonight given the way things panned out”
Il Faraone spoke to the club’s official media channel after the 1-1 draw with Serie A rivals Inter.
“We played well at times. We got off to a strong start then dropped off a bit and they came into it more after the break. We did well to get ourselves level again but we perhaps needed to be a bit more clinical. We’re confident though, especially as this draw comes on the back of eight straight wins.”
The Italy international touched on his club’s position in the table.
“We’re aiming for third at the moment but if we can close the gap on Napoli so much the better. We need to take each game as it comes. Considering where we were eight matches ago we’re happy and just want to keep going as we are. We need to hit the ground running again after the Easter break and hold onto third place.”
El Shaarawy was included in Antonio Conte’s latest Azzurri squad and quickly commented on his inclusion.
“Yeah, I’m pleased about that. Italy is important to me and my aim is to go to the Euros.”
