Juventus, Buffon: ”We Will See Who Is Better Tomorrow”

Buffon expects his teammates to take on the 2nd-leg without fear and would not be disappointed to go out against Bayern if it happened.

Gianluigi Buffon addressed the media today in a press conference for the Bianconeri‘s 2nd leg Champions League match against Bayern and spoke about the approach his club has to take:

We need to have a better start to the game, a less nervous and fearful one compared to the first-leg. We hope things go in our favor. When looking back at both games (Bayern in 2013), Bayern were a strong team capable of beating anyone. They showed it by going right to the end. Bayern are the strongest team. We will see who is the better team tomorrow. In Turin, they were stronger than us but then we managed to turn over a desperate situation.

On the latest injury situation at the club and the outlook going into this game:

It is often said that extremely strong teams have 2o to 25 first-choice players. It is the group that makes the difference. Tomorrow will be a perfect time to prove it. In the long run, we would pay for those missing but in one game, we can do it.

On those missing out, including Mario Mandzukic:

I feel bad for the boys who will miss out due to injury but they are staying back to heal. Mario is our first defender. Examples like him show that one can give their heart to overcome obstacles.

On if Juventus were to go out in the Round of 16:

Exiting at the hands of Bayern offers no regret, it depends how you go out. I would be proud of a balanced fixture. If we play like we did in the second half of the first-leg, It would a match to be proud of. This round is like a semi-final, Juventus have to prove they are worthy of playing at the highest level. Last year went well compared to this year. Now it is up to us to demonstrate our worth.
