Fabio Capello calls Johan Cruyff a football icon and talks about how the sport has lost one of its symbols.
In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb, Fabio Capello remembers legendary Dutch player Johan Cruyff and spoke about his recent passing:
A champion has passed away. As a player and as a coach, he was one of the greatest in the history of football. A person, or rather a full-fledged icon of not only football, but also of sport. I have a very good relationship with him. I am saddened that a symbol of football has left us.
Capello was then asked if there was a particular anecdote that he remembers about Cruyf:
There are many moments that come to mind. On a personal level, when he had something to say, he always said it to you, he never kept it inside of him. He was one of the few to make a difference as a player and as a coach, both at Ajax and at Barcelona, which is not easy. He was an icon.
