Today, Giampiero Ventura’s Torino fell 4-1 to their fierce rivals Juventus in controversial fashion and the manager didn’t hold anything back.
In his post-match interview with Premium Sport, he said,:
“We were playing against Juventus, the best team in the league and went down 2-0 due to our own faults. At 2-1, Alex Sandro had to be sent off. Maxi Lopez’ goal was a good one. It should have been 2-2 with a man up. However, at 4-1 it’s a completely different game. Juventus are extraordinary, today at the 60th minute it should have been 2-2 and we should have been a man up. It’s tough to discuss a 4-1 result, even because I don’t know how he wasn’t sent off. I don’t understand how Bonucci wasn’t booked
(and sent off) therefore explaining the 4-1 result becomes hard. It should have been 2-2.”
On the defeat and Rizzoli:
“We have to accept the defeat. We lost the derby for other reasons, but it’s difficult to entertain the scoreline. I rate Rizzoli, but we’ll think of the next game. We wanted to be aggressive but given our characteristics it’s tough for us to be this. In the second half, we played like a team. Even at 3-1, we had a goal cleared off the line. In the first half, we gave them too much space.”
