Today, Juventus fell to Bayern Munich by a score of 4-2 in extra time and crashed out of the Champions League.
GOALKEEPER:
Buffon (6.5) – Conceded four goals but can’t be faulted for any of them really. Made some impressive saves throughout as well.
DEFENDERS:
Lichtsteiner (7) – The Swiss Express had a good game in the defensive zone and the final third and handled Frank Ribery relatively well. Crucial in his side’s first goal.
Bonucci (6.5) – The Italian international was exceptional throughout up until Robert Lewandowski got the first goal. From that point on, the biaconeri looked vulnerable at the back.
Barzagli – (6.5) – Like his teammate, Barzagli had a very good game up until Bayern’s first goal. However, la Roccia was once again as solid as they come at the back.
Evra (5.5) – The former Manchester United man was fantastic in marshalling his winger throughout but was at fault for Bayern’s last-ditch equalizer. Looked suspect after that mistake.
MIDFIELDERS:
Cuadrado (6.5) – Mixed bag for the Colombian winger. After scoring his goal, Cuadrado had a golden opportunity to bury the tie but saw his effort wonderfully saved by Manuel Neuer. Will be regretting that miss for a long, long time.
Hernanes (6.0) – While the Brazilian did an adequate job at covering the back four, he simply didn’t offer enough in Marchisio’s absence. All in all, however , an alright performance from Hernanes.
Khedira (7.0) – The German international was immense throughout the game and played a big role in his side’s early two-goal lead. The wheels fell off the Juventus bus when he was subbed off for Sturaro.
Pogba (8) – The Frenchman was brilliant all game and justified all the hype surrounding him. Pogba bullied the left-hand side all game and got a goal to add to his impressive performance.
Alex Sandro (6.5) – Like Cuadrado, it was an up and down game for Alex Sandro. The fullback was fantastic up until extra time rolled around and Kingsley Coman was regularly getting the better of him.
FORWARD:
Morata (7.0) – The former Real Madrid man did everything he was asked to do tonight and went on a Maradona-esque run. While his goal was incorrectly disallowed, he should have easily had another one but missed a few key chances.
SUBS
Sturaro (5.5) – When he came on for Khedira, Juventus’ midfield play dropped considerably. Sturaro put in a shocking performance as a super-sub and wasted possession too easily in the closing stages of regular time.
Mandzukic (6.0) – The Juventus man was stuck on an island when he came on the pitch and inevitably had a poor showing. Perhaps it was the wrong move to opt for the Croatian’s holdup play instead of Zaza’s incisiveness on Allegri’s part.
Pereyra (6.0) – The Argentine came on to inject some much needed pace into the lineup but didn’t do anything of note.
