Today, Juventus took on Torino in the Derby della Mole and prevailed by a score of 4-1 against their fierce rivals extending their lead at the top of the league over Napoli.
Here’s how we rated their performances.
Buffon (6.5) – Historic night for the legendary shot-stopper as he broke Sebastiano Rossi’s record of most minutes gone without conceding a goal in Serie A but his party was spoiled when Belotti slotted home from the spot. Overall, a decent performance from Gigi.
DEFENDERS:
Rugani (7) – The young defender was arguably the best of the three centre backs against I granata and looked solid throughout. Made a crucial clearance off the line at 3-1 to put an end to Torino’s hopes.
Bonucci (6.0) – The Italian international looked vulnerable in the second half against Belotti and Maxi Lopez and wasn’t his usual comfortable self in possession. Not a performance to remember from the former Bari man.
Barzagli – (6.5) – Barzagli, once again, looked good on the right hand said of the back three and put his impressive timing on display on more than one occasion.
MIDFIELDERS:
Lichtsteiner (6.0) – The Swiss Express didn’t get forward as much as he would have liked but was typically reliable at the back. Solid but unspectacular performance from Lichtsteiner.
Khedira (7.5) – When Khedira plays the full game, Juventus don’t lose. Tonight, the trend continued as the German international found the back of the net after a Lionel Messi-esque run and put his side up by two goals. His red card will be leaving a bitter taste in his mouth.
Lemina (6.5) – Much like Hernanes in mid-week, Lemina acted as a facilitator of sorts for Pogba and Khedira and did well to spray the ball around with accuracy. With performances like these, the argument for his redemption becomes stronger.
Pogba (8) – The Frenchman was fantastic for the second time in a week and dominated the proceedings. After his wonderfully hit free kick that found the back of the net, Pogba would add a further two assists on both of Morata’s goals.
Alex Sandro (5.5) – The former Porto man lost the battle against Bruno Peres tonight and would go on to concede a penalty for a poorly-timed tackled on his compatriot. Will miss his side’s next game against Empoli through suspension.
FORWARDS:
Dybala (6.o) – The Argentine looked good in the early goings of the game but had to be subbed off due to injury. Can’t really judge his performance based on that so he gets a standard grade of 6.0.
Mandzukic (6.5) – While he did not score, Mandzukic’s role in the side cannot be understated. When he’s not winning headers, the Croatian’s relentless pressure means that his teammates benefit with him in the team.
SUBS
Morata (7.5) – The Juventus man continued his good form with a brace against their fierce rivals after coming on for Dybala. After a little slump, Morata will be ecstatic with his recent performances.
Cuadrado (6.0) – The Colombian looked dangerous in possession but didn’t create much. Had a penalty shout on Gaston Silva’s tackle in the second half.
Zaza (N/A) – Didn’t do anything of note in his brief spell on the pitch.
