Mattia Perin is cheering on Gianluigi Buffon as he is three minutes away from breaking the Serie A record of minutes played without conceding a goal & believes no one else deserves it more.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Viareggio Cup, Genoa shot-stopper Mattia Perin discusses his chances for the National Team, Genoa’s recent performances and Buffon’s record.
On the EURO:
I certainly think about it. I have always been a part of the National Team set-up and it is a goal that I have set for myself for a long time now. There is a lot of competition therefore I will only go if I deserve it.
On Genoa:
We are coming off two straight victories. We knew we needed to win to get us out of this situation and we did. Our standing in the table has now improved significantly. In these final games, we will try to finish the season on a high note.
On teammate, Alessio Cerci:
He is giving us a big hand. We will also try to do the same to get him to the European Championships.
On Buffon’s record:
His career speaks for itself, no other words are needed. Nobody deserves to beat the record more than him, we are all rooting for him. If he reaches the milestone next Sunday, we will be many to celebrate it.
