Antonio Conte plans to evaluate his squad after two winless friendlies and wait until the end of the season to determine who will be on the flight to France.
After Italy’s crushing 4-1 defeat to Germany, Antonio Conte spoke to Rai Sport following the loss:
I said it before, we needed these tests to make evaluations. We challenged the best team, as well as Spain who are among the top teams in the world. We worked and the lads gave it their all. Now we must make the evaluations. We know we have to bridge the gap between ourselves and the other teams, to do this we will try to pick the best players.
To play with a high tempo and intensity, you need the legs. A few suffered due to their efforts on Friday and this must also be evaluated. We will work and see what will happen. There are players who will be a part of the EURO, we will see at the end of the season which of those will be chosen.
Conte was then asked about the injury Bonucci suffered in the build-up to Germany’s 3rd goal:
Bonucci’s injury did alter the formation that I had in mind going forward.
