Carpi, Mancosu: ”The Next 3 Games Will Be Decisive”

Matteo Mancosu says he has no regrets on the way things went at Bologna and is looking to help Carpi secure a vital three points in their quest for Serie A survial.

Carpi striker Matteo Mancosu addressed the media in the press conference leading up to his club’s important clash against Bologna on Sunday:

On the match versus Bologna:

For me, Bologna-Carpi will be a game like no other. It never happened to me before, playing for two different teams in the same season and seeing ex-teammates as adversaries. There will be a bit of emotion at the start of the game. It is very important for us to play a great game and search to bring home a victory. It has been a while since we have collected three points and these points will allow us to get closer to our direct competition for safety. The next three games will be decisive for our season. After Bologna, we face Frosinone and Hellas Verona who, together with us, are the worst in terms of points. We must take advantage of the upcoming games to collect as many points as possible. We must remain close to our direct competitors and surpass them in the final games.

On getting revenge on his former team:

There is a desire to prove something but there will not be any negative feelings towards them. I have no regrets for how things went at Bologna. I play for Carpi now, they need points for safety and I will rightfully fight for this shirt.

On Verdi and De Guzman:

They are both strong players who are good in the Final Third. They can be a big contribution. As the weeks go by, I see them more and more involved in the action.

On the expected atmosphere at Bologna and playing against Carpi while at Bologna:

Bologna have been playing well as of late. We are awaiting a heated atmosphere. Lately, given the positive results, more people are going to the stadium. We both want to win the derby, but we believe. Last season, at the Stadio Sandro Cabassi, Carpi deserved the victory. Possession switched hands constantly in the first 20 minutes of the game but after Pasciuti’s goal, it was all Biancorosso in which the athletic gap between both squads was evident. In the game at Stadio Braglia (in Modena) in October, after the Carpi goal came the expulsion of Lollo and then Masina’s goal which allowed us to pick up a win that had been evading us for sometime. From there, after the firing of Delio Rossi, Bologna switched gears and now find themselves mid-table.

On his performance at Carpi in the last two months:

I am playing a lot. For attackers, we speak in goals. I want to increase my tally because a goal in the league and a goal in the Coppa Italia is not enough. I have to give a hand to this team because they have to stay in the top flight. We all want it and deserve it.
