Here is Italian Football Daily’s Team of the Week for Matchday 27:
Goalkeeper:
Gianluigi Donnarumma (AC Milan): The young goalkeeper was again key in securing Milan a clean sheet and the Rossoneri have now gone eleven games without defeat.
Defenders:
Luca Antonelli (AC Milan): The Milan defence has looked very solid in recent weeks and Luca Antonelli at left-back has been very reliable. The 29-year-old scored Milan’s only goal as he turned in a scrappy goal from a corner. In the process, Milan scored for the ninth game in a row; the longest current run in Serie A.
Francesco Acerbi (Sassuolo): The Italian centre-back continues to perform for Sassuolo and could be an outside contender for Antonio Conte’s squad for the Euros. His performance against Lazio was commanding as he put his body on the line to ensure the neroverdi got their 6th clean sheet of the season.
Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus): He scored against his former club to give Juve the lead and was a beast at the back as Mauro Icardi struggled to have an impact on the Derby d’Italia.
Antonio Rüdiger (AS Roma): The German defender has formed a strong partnership with Kostas Manolas and in the Greek’s absence he stepped up with a commanding performance against Empoli.
Midfielders:
Miralem Pjanić (AS Roma): After his free-kick was blocked by the wall, the Bosnian playmaker hit a shot that went through on its second attempt to give Roma a second lead. Pjanić has been in excellent form this season and has nine goals and eight assists in Serie A so far.
Fernando (Sampdoria): Has been one of Samp’s best performers this season and, despite the results, has enhanced his reputation. This weekend he hit the bar from distance and grabbed a goal as Samp got a much-needed win against fellow strugglers Frosinone.
Borja Valero (Fiorentina): The Spaniard played in an advanced position in Fiorentina’s midfield and dictated play for La Viola. His perfect delivery from a corner led to Marcos Alonso’s opener.
Strikers:
Antonio Di Natale (Udinese): The veteran striker was instrumental in Udinese’s attacks and got an excellent assist for Badu’s goal, the opening goal on the day.
Grégoire Defrel (Sassuolo): He drew the foul from Mauricio that led to Sassuolo being awarded a penalty which Domenico Berardi scored. He also got on the scoresheet for the second in a week in a row and ensured that Sassuolo have now scored in eight straight away games in the league for the first time.
Stephane El Shaarawy (AS Roma): Scored a fantastic goal from range to give Roma the lead and wrapped up the game after seizing on Mohamed Salah’s saved effort. Since coming to Roma in January, El Shaarawy has been involved in five goals: four goals and one assist.
