Recent reports emanating from France suggest that Euro 2016 may be at risk of being a target for a terrorist attack.
After the tragic events in Paris at the hands of ISIS, it seems that the French people may still be under threat. This summer France is set to host the European Championships, and with millions of tourists and VIPs set to be attending, the organisers of the event have had a meeting to discuss security.
According to ANSA, French anti-Terrorism forces will be guarding all the teams training grounds both for the duration of EURO 2016 and their pre-tournament friendlies.
This of course comes after the Europol director Rob Wainwright stated:
“So-called Islamic State has a willingness and a capability to carry out further attacks in Europe, and of course all national authorities are working to prevent that from happening.”
So it is to be understood that all European nations, especially France, are ensuring that what happened in Paris will not happen again.
