Giampiero Ventura says the root of his squad’s problems today was that they stopped playing after both goals were scored.
Torino manager Giampiero Ventura was in a somber mood as he spoke with Premium Sport after his squad blew a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2 to Genoa.
The two-goal advantage was not the problem . We played a good game and prepared well for it but instead of returning to play, we conceded a penalty. Afterwards, we stopped playing. That was our problem. We have a squad with such good potential who can become great but this year, unlike the other years, we gave away points and games to the other teams. Maybe we need a bit more personality. We must work hard for this season, but also for the next ones.
Ventura also gave his thoughts on Immobile and Cerci’s chances to make the Azzurri for the EURO:
They have to earn it with their performances. They did well today, I am also happy for Alessio. He scored two goals today but I do not wish any more against us (laughs).
