The International Champions Cup is set to provide the Rossoneri with some financial respite, after their failure to qualify for Europa league via both the Coppa Italia and league placing.
AC Milan are set to attain €3.5 million for participating in the International Champions Cup in the United States this upcoming summer as they begin preparations for the 2016/2017 Serie A season.
The Rossoneri are set to engage in friendlies against some of their fellow European giants in Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Chelsea, as the former Champions League winner will travel to Chicago, Santa Clara and Minneapolis in just under a week.
With the loss of the Europa League, this will be something of a financial boon, as AC Milan have missed out on Europe for yet another season. It is reported that the Rossoneri will lose out in a significant windfall for their failure to qualify, with loss being €2.4 million, as well as the additional loss of ticket sales
While this income will be a relief of sorts to the beleaguered Milanese side, and to President Silvio Berlusconi as well as vice-president Adriano Galliani, this will not appease their fan-base which has grown in discontent with the hierarchies constant failures.
Furthermore, the Curva Sud Ultras are accusing the clubs hierarchy for encouraging the squad to finish sixth in Serie A, purely so they can participate in the ICC tournament. The basis for this accusation lies in the fact that tickets for the Rossoneri’s first game in the ICC is against Bayern on July 27 – ironically coinciding with the preliminary stage of the Europa League
