FULL PRESSER – Allegri: “Tomorrow’s Formation? You’ll Never Figure It Out.”

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow’s Coppa Italia final against Milan.

In his pre-match press conference the Juventus boss said,:

“We’re aware that we are about to play in a final. We’re playing a Milan side presented with the last chance to claim a spot in the Europa League. We’ll have to be very good.”

After the win against Sampdoria, are you more calm?

“We’ve had a boring week, especially after the title win. Then the game against Sampdoria gave us a different way to approach games. If Milan decide to go with three up front, we will play a formation to counter that. It will be a balanced game. We’ll find a team ready to fight. Milan has quality: Bacca is dangerous and Bonaventura is very good. Montolivo is doing well. We’ve played two balanced games against them. We will need to be focused. In one-off games, individuals make the difference.”

On the formation:

“Tomorrow it’s likely that Mandzukic and Dybala will start. Neto has come a long way, it’s normal that not playing for a while makes you lose some fitness. He’s done well to recover in the last two games. Morata and Zaza are two players who can lend a big hand throughout the game. Other than Pogba, the centre mids are yet to be picked.”

On the emotions of playing in a cup final:

“There is no fear. Meeting the Pope this morning was emotional. We looked to reach this final and we did good to get here.”

You are the last manager to win a trophy at Milan.

“Tomorrow will be a fascinating encounter, it’s still Juve-Milan. We must play a great game. They are a big team, despite their current form.”

If you win, do you see it as the end of a cycle or the beginning of one?

“The end of a cycle was perhaps last year. After a disastrous start, we did well to recover for the lost time. This final doesn’t have to be a trampoline for future success. It’s simply a game we have to win. Next year’s objectives won’t change because of it.”

Is there a danger in being heavy favorites?

“Nothing is dangerous. The important thing is not to underestimate how much effort we must put in. Then, after we play the game, we go on vacation.”

On the transfer window:

“I’m not talking about the transfer window. Out of respect for my players and the club. Tomorrow there is a nice game and we have to think of that.”

Will Asamoah play?

“In my opinion, you’ll never figure out tomorrow’s formation.”
