After getting the sack last month, Sinisa Mihajlovic and his former club A.C. Milan have come to an agreement to terminate the Serbian’s contract in June.
Once Mihajlović was relieved of his managerial duties at the bench of the rossoneri last month, and replaced with Cristian Brocchi, it was only a matter of time until the club and the ex-Sampdoria manager would come to a termination agreement.
Mihajlović was appointed last summer on a two-year deal after Milan sacked Pippo Inzaghi. In an official club statement on Monday, the Italian club announced the news of his impending termination:
“A.C. Milan will terminate Siniša Mihajlović’s contract with the club from 30/06/2016. Everybody involved at A.C. Milan wishes him the best for his future.”
Mihajlović, who seemed to have finally begun to build a winning formula at the club, was sacked after falling to Juventus 2-1. Despite a bit of a rocky relationship with president Silvio Berlusconi, and having dealt with constant pressure on a weekly basis, Mihajlović managed to lead the club to a Coppa Italia final which they’d eventually lose to Juventus 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico.
With Antonio Conte having already agreed to take over the bench of Chelsea after the Euro, all signs point to Giampiero Ventura taking his place with the Azzurri, leaving a void with Toro which is likely to be filled by Mihajlović.
