Azzurri Test 3-5-2 In 6-0 Win Over Fiorentina Primavera

Antonio Conte sticks to his preferred 3-5-2 formation as Italy, lead by an Insigne brace, hit six past the Primavera side in a friendly early today.

In a friendly encounter against Fiorentina’s Primavera side this afternoon, Antonio Conte fielded what could be viewed as a potential Starting XI come the first game of Italy’s group at the EURO. The Azzurri CT went with his trusted 3-5-2 set-up in a game of three halves versus the youth team. The Starting XI, as per TuttoMercatoWeb, was as follows:

Buffon;

Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini;

Candreva, Florenzi, De Rossi, Giaccherini, Darmian;

Éder, Pelle;

The first half ended scoreless, with both Florenzi and Giaccherini acting as the biggest threats going forward. Neither Pelle nor Eder were able to find the back of the net while linking up at top. Before the start of the second half, Conte made a number of changes with Marchetti replacing Buffon in goal, Immobile on for Éder, De Sciglio and El Shaarawy were brought in as the new wing-backs and De Rossi was now being supported by Bonaventura and Parolo. It is to be noted that Salvatore Sirigu was also subbed on but took over as Fiorentina’s goalkeeper. Below was the second half XI:

Marchetti;

Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini,

De Sciglio, Parolo, De Rossi, Bonaventura, El Shaarawy;

Immobile; Pelle

Midway through the second half, Antonio Conte made another five changes to his team. Rugani, Ogbonna and Astori all came in to replace the Juventus trio at the back. In the midfield, Jorginho took up the central role over Daniele De Rossi and Simone Zaza came on for Graziano Pelle as the new striker up front. Bonaventura, El Shaarawy and Zaza broke the deadlock and signed their names on the score-sheet to give Italy a 3-0 lead. A third half of 30 minutes was then to be played with more changes to the 3-5-2 being completed by Antonio Conte. Below was the final XI of the third half:

Sirigu;

Rugani, Ogbonna, Astori;

Zappacosta, Sturaro, Jorginho, Benassi, Bernardeschi;

Insigne, Zaza;

It was the Bernardeschi and Insigne show in the final half as the in-form Napoli winger struck home twice while both assists came from the former. Davide Zappacosta would also find the back of the net and Italy would conclude the game by cruising to a 6-0 win over their younger adversaries.
