AC Milan announced today they had sold El Shaarawy to Roma.
The Giallorossi activated the buy out clause in the contract for around €13 million, which was a no-brainer given his resurgence in Serie A.
Milan’s CEO Adriano Galliani penned a letter thanking Il Faraone for his service to the Rossoneri
Dear Stephan, we did it a year ago and now we’re doing it again definitively, but it is anything but a chore. We, you and Milan, we cared for one another so much, which is why we want to thank you, not only for the dedication and commitment you have always demonstrated in this shirt, but also for how you’ve lived your relationship away from us, with absolute honesty and affection, even in this year on loan. And in return in May during Milan-Roma at San Siro, you experienced proof of the place you occupy in the hearts of our fans. And so for all of us at the club, We wish you every success for the rest of your career, both at club and international level with Italy. – Adriano Galliani
El Shaarawy arrived from Genoa in 2011 as an 18 year old, his impressive performances with Padova the year before had prompted Milan to sign him.
