Allegri: “It Was Important to Win to Get to the Quarter-Finals.”

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri expressed his satisfaction at the result that sees his side progress into the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.

After the game RAI caught up with Allegri to pick his brain about his team’s performance. The former Milan boss told reporters,:

The team played a good game. It wasn’t simple, because it’s never easy to play against this Torino. We did good to break the deadlock quickly and protect the result when we went a man up. It was important to win to get to the quarter-finals, but now our attention shifts to the game on Sunday against Carpi, a team that is underrated. It won’t be an easy game because we’re playing at noon and also because winning away from home is never easy in Italy.”

When asked about Daniele Rugani, the Juventus manager said, “He did really well in an important game. It wasn’t easy.”

The Italian tactician also touched upon his side’s draw against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. He told RAI, “We still have to grow a lot. We have to improve technically but we’re getting there. Today’s game was a good sign because Torino are played well at the moment.”

Allegri concluded the interview by responding to questions about the 3-5-2 and Chelsea’s Oscar. He said, “For the 4-3-1-2, I’m missing an attacking midfielder, a player who knows the offensive side of the game and can play in the midfield. We have (Roberto) Pereyra who is a valid alternative when he returns from injury. In regards to Oscar, the tabloids say a lot. Juventus have a top team. We will evaluate along with the management whether we need to add anyone. We also need to buy quality players who are worthy and not buy just anyone.”
