Carpi manager Fabrizio Castori was particularly pleased with his side’s performance against Juventus despite the result.
After conceding a third goal to Juventus, all hope looked lost for newly-promoted Carpi. The minnows kept pushing on nonetheless and almost notched an incredible equalizer in the final minutes of the game. After the game Castori told reporters from Sky,:
“It wasn’t easy to come back against this Juve, it’s a shame we conceded three goals. Bonucci’s own-goal did restore some pride for us, but Lollo’s equalizer would have been fantastic. We’re alive.”
When asked about Allegri and his touchline antics, the Carpi boss said,:
“Hey, even I went crazy today. (laughs) In any case, I’m happy. We won in Florence and held our own against Juve. We are starting to play well and we will fight for survival until the end. This game taught me a lot about my team. I put my team out there not to concede space or else we would risk conceding a lot. We played with intensity and outside of the late miss, I’m happy with the way my players interpreted our tactics. We have to continue like this, we played good today and in Florence. We improved over time but we must play with continuity. That way we get results and it boosts our morale. Our confidence has grown thanks to our results and performances in the league and in the Coppa Italia. We are a young team that needs confidence. We give our all out there despite the fact that we have limits. We are a perseverant group which is what I like most about my team.”
