Paul Pogba expressed his satisfaction at the result and his goal but highlighted that this game was by no means an easy one.
The French midfielder got his name on the scoresheet after latching onto a Claudio Marchisio through ball before slotting home expertly past Vid Belec. Pogba’s goal would prove to be the match-winner as Carpi pulled one back late in stoppage time. In his post-game interview, the former Manchester United man told Sky,:
“I scored an important goal but we won and that was the objective. We are happy for this fundamental and deserved win, even if we made life harder for ourselves in the end gifting a goal to Carpi. That’s something that should absolutely not happen again. Now we have the break but when we return to the pitch we have to do so with humility and be aware of the fact that we’ve accomplished nothing so far. The road is still a long one. I dedicate this goal to myself. I know that I have to do more to help the team win another league title.”
When asked about how he thinks Massimiliano Allegri will be feeling after seeing his side stumble in the last twenty minutes and almost squandering the two-goal lead, Pogba said,:
“No, he won’t be happy. We know that these games are hard. When we make a mistake and they have the home support to back them, it becomes difficult. But we won and that’s the important part.”
Pogba concluded his interview by underling that Juve are not thinking about Inter despite being asked to send them a message. The Juventus midfielder said,:
“We’re only thinking about ourselves. We want to do good on the field and we’re not looking at others. We play our games with the utmost concentration and then things will sort themselves out.”
