Sassuolo have one foot in the door of the Europa League after securing their UEFA License for next season.
After a spectacular campaign that had them competing in the upper half of the table for the entirety of the season, Sassuolo have received some incredible news for next season. As announced via their official website, the Neroverdi have received a UEFA License, allowing them to enter into the Europa League for the 2016/2017 season.
Following the examination of all documentation produced by the club proving compliance with the economic, legal and infrastructure criteria, the UEFA Licensing Commission at the FIGC has decided to release to U.S. Sassuolo Calcio a valid license for the 2016/2017 season.
Compared to Parma in 2013/2014 and Genoa in 2014/2015, who both were denied licenses in consecutive season, Sassuolo will be relieved at not suffering the same faith. However, even with the license, they will have to wait for the result of the Coppa Italia Final to see if they will indeed secure a Europa League spot. A Milan loss to Juventus will guarantee Sassuolo’s entry into the competition.
