Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku stated that he was close to a Juventus switch years ago.
One of England’s most prolific strikers has his future in the air as he seeks a more ambitious project to be a part of. In the past he’s played for Chelsea but things fell out due to disagreements with Jose Mourinho, and now he finds himself in Everton who just sacked Roberto Martinez.
Lukaku spoke to So Foot, and he explained how he almost became a Juventus player. “In the past, when I played at West Brom, I was a step away from Juventus, but my agent without any nonsense told me I had to play more continuously and be aggressive on the field. I’m a more ambitious type, I want to win trophies, just like all the other Mino clients like Pogba and Ibra. In 2012 I won the Champions League with Chelsea, but I don’t talk about it. Why? Because I didn’t contribute to the win. Me to PSG? Certainly I want to play for a club that’s in the Champions League.”
