Roma eye Villarreal defender Musacchio

With Antonio Rudiger’s injury, the Giallorossi are eyeing up a replacement

One of the best performing defenses last season was Spain’s Villarreal, especially in the Europa League where the ‘Yellow Submarine’ made it all the way to the semi-finals.

At the moment, Roma are studying up to 30 defenders and according to Il Messaggero the name at the top of the list is Musacchio. His price has been reduced in comparison to a year ago before he broke his tibia and then tore his hamstring. A very frustrating season for the Argentina man, but the worst may be behind him.

Villarreal won’t accept anything less than €18-20 million, which is significantly reduced from the near €30 million they were asking for last summer.

Musacchio, who has appeared for his country twice, signed for the Spanish club in 2009 from River Plate. Outside of these two clubs, he has never played anywhere else.

Another positive is that he has an Italian passport, meaning that he would not use up one of the non-EU transfer slots that Roma have available.
