After a failed loan stint back with A.C. Milan, striker Mario Balotelli, owned by Liverpool, is unlikely to stay on with the Rossoneri, leaving his career in limbo as he hopes to find stability at a new club next season.
Mario Balotelli was sold to Liverpool back in the summer of 2014 by Milan, however failed to find himself under then-manager Brendan Rodgers. The Italian striker managed to score just four times in 28 appearances throughout all competitions in his first season at Anfield before being loaned back to Italy where Milan elected to take him on for a seasonal loan.
Humble and grateful for the opportunity to return to Italy with the seven-time Champions League winners, Balotelli entered the 2015/16 campaign a changed man, ready to finally fulfill his once limitless potential. Yet, while he managed to control his emotions and harness his attitude, the former Manchester City star failed to shine as he scored just once in 20 Serie A appearances, via transfermarkt. While his goal output surely left a lot to be desired, those numbers are a bit skewed. He only played a total of 825′ in league action, which equates to roughly 9 full matches. Often times, he came on in the final 5 to 10 minutes and did not get the opportunity to get on the ball much. However, in certain instances, he came off the bench and provided an immediate impact, particularly in the early season Derby della Madonnina against Inter. Milan fell narrowly to their bitter rival, but Balotelli was lethal in just 29 minutes of action. He initiated contact, drew fouls, delivered magnificent free kicks and hit the post on a few occasions. In the right situation, and with consistent pitch time, Mario Balotelli can still be a force for any club. Question remains, where will he land next?
