With all but a medical examination and a John Hancock left to seal the deal that will bring Dani Alves from Barcelona to Turin, Juventus brass are far from wrapping up their transfer window.
Accredited transfer gurus like Di Marzio and Pedrosi have reported a strong bianconero interest in versatile central midfielder/defender Javier Mascherano, whose contract with the blaugrana ends in 2018. As the days wear, however, it appears that a supposed verbal agreement between the Turinese giants and the Argentine is destined to go with the wind.
In fact, news from Gazzetta.it‘s transfer oracle Carlo Laudisa echoes what minor sources had been reporting over the last few days:

Juve’s verbal agreement (real or fictitious) seems to have spurred Barcelona to speed talks with Mascherano’s entourage. According to Laudisa, the blaugrana, have offered a €10 million contract renewal until 2020. Further confirmation from more credible sources await.
