Longtime Azzurri midfielder Daniele De Rossi has not placed limits on his international career.
At 33-years of age, the Roma symbol has left the doors open for the next head coach of Italy, and even went as far to say that this current Azzurri side misses Andrea Pirlo, who did not make the squad.
“The objective was to be called but that one wasn’t the principle. Without being arrogant, it was expected for me to be called up and now my goal is to have a great Euro. I don’t have a contract on the national team, the next head coach will decide my end. Who can say goodbye to the national team? It’s about pride, to avoid being cut first. However if I wasn’t being called anymore I wouldn’t be ashamed, I leave every door open and I’ll always be present even in emergencies. You can’t give a goodbye to the Nazionale unless you have physical issues.
“Conte makes a big point about fitness. For him, it was a question mark because I’d never had the type problems I’ve had this season previously. I had to play a different role.”
