Conte wanted Nainggolan at Juventus, now he may have his chance to work with him at Chelsea.
One of the true midfield warriors in Serie A, Radja Nainggolan, is on the wishlist of many top clubs around Europe. Today, the Belgium international spoke to Nina, a Belgian newspaper.
“Chelsea? There have been contracts between the two clubs, but up until now there isn’t an agreement so I remain outside of it. It would be very difficult to leave Italy after 11 years, I’m very happy at Roma. Chelsea is a great club, and they want to better their team. With Antonio Conte they have a manager that has always wanted to get me. But since there’s no contract, there’s no transfer.”
Nainggolan has been courted in the past by the likes of Barcelona and Bayern and with his attitude and work rate it’s easy to understand why. On his day, he’s among the very best midfielders in Europe and would help out any team. But he’s also repeatedly stated that he has no desire to leave Roma.
Since moving from Cagliari in January 2014, Nainggolan has gone on to be a staple in both Rudi Garcia and Luciano Spalletti’s lineups.
