Speaking in the presser after the 1-0 loss to Italy, Sweden’s coach Hamren didn’t hide his disappointment.
“We had a drop in concentration but we defended well against Italy, in the last 20 minutes we didn’t resist enough and we didn’t create the plays we needed. We had the chance with Zlatan, but we didn’t create enough difficulties in the end. They worked hard but we didn’t do enough for a draw.”
“We had a few chances but we didn’t score, however today we played against a team that defends very well, even Belgium didn’t succeed in scoring against Italy. Sure, it would’ve been better to have more chances, but I assure you that we tried, but the defense did their job.”
“Was Ibra offside? I couldn’t tell you, but we need to recognize that Italy’s defense did a great job.”
Sweden will have to play against Belgium playing for nothing less than a win in the final group stage game.
