Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa was upset after his team’s elimination in Coppa Italia as they lost 1-0 to Capri in the round of 16.
“I am angry and disappointed. This was not the result we envisioned but when you participate in these kind of competitions these things can happen. It was not our night considering what we created, we were unable to score. The team tried to win with individual play which allowed our opponent defend and have space to counter attack. We paid dearly for this.”
“We had to run more than what we are used to and got tired. The individual play affected our game, there are few players in the world that can win a game by themselves. The team is fundamental, when the team is not united we have difficulty. I have one objective, to win. I hope I never see my team like this again.”
Sousa was asked about Roncaglia and Rossi
Roncaglia – “It’s been a while he has a problem with his shoulder which has limited his form. I hope he recovers and gets his confidence back.”
Rossi – “Today we played with four strikers and there was no room for him.”
Last thoughts on his team’s current form:
“We have a let down on the results, not on our form. Some players are not at the same level like at the beginning of the season, but we are still able to make plays and control the game. Lately things have not been going our way. I wanted to do well in all three competitions, now we must give our maximum for the remaining two. We wanted to win but some times things like this happen.”
