Following a showdown against Roma, Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri spoke about his takeaways from the 0-0 draw in an interview with Sky Sport.
Here are his comments:
“I’m not disappointed, but I am extremely happy for what my team was able to accomplish. Unfortunately, we were unable to take advantage of our evident supremacy today. We were in a siege, raising the pace and rhythm in the second half and we created a lot. We made a mistake on a few things, we had a bit of bad luck, and the skill of the opposing goalkeeper. However, these type of matches should leave us satisfied. The feeling of solidity that the team gave me today is probably even stronger than in the matches won, like against Inter and Fiorentina.”
When asked about Hamsik’s peformance:
“Marek Hamsik had an extraordinary game to show continuity in both phases of offense and defense. We needed to move the center backs around more, and we also need to be more ready for the chances that Ghoulam creates.”
When asked what he thought of the actual result:
“When we tie against teams that have a lower budget, they tell us that we haven’t done a good job. Tonight we tied against a team that has a superior budget. We shut down Roma for the whole game, holding 70% of the possession.”
