The Italian tactician isn’t taking his foot off the gas when his team arrive at base camp on Wednesday.
Interviewed immediately following the final whistle, Conte seemed displeased with certain aspects of the game that he did not like. “We have to work with our feet on the ground, lesson after lesson. We’ve won two friendlies, now we have to work in sight of the match against Belgium on a few tactical situations. This is a group of guys who are strong, formed with great men and great players. It’s important because in these short tournaments they have to stay happy [as a group] among themselves.
“A few players have came a little behind in condition. Thiago Motta dispatched 60 strong minutes but he still must get better. We’ll continue to train ourselves, we’ll pull everything through the door and maybe we’ll put a few more goals in, but the guys gave it their all. New coach? The Federation thinks they have made the choice in the best way but we’re thinking about the present and not in the future,” he told RAI Sport.
Italy open up against Belgium next Monday in Lyon, France.
