A solid performance from Italy tonight against Finland have given them hope for the group stage of the Euro.
Stephan El Shaarawy spoke to Rai Sport following his side’s 2-0 win over Finland in Verona.
“We’re arriving at the Euro with a lot of hope, it’s better that people don’t say we are favorites. We’re growing, we’ve played a good game tonight. The coach asked me to play with a lot of intensity on the wing, not to be lazy. I’m available to play anywhere for Conte. I found [playing on the wing] well tonight, also because I have Chiellini behind me who’s a great defender. Thiago Motta? The jeers are ungenerous. He’s a great champion, and he’s won many titles.”
Debutante Stefano Sturaro was also quizzed by Rai Sport following the match: “I’m happy, the win for the team is the most important thing. I’m grateful to Conte for the call, I’ll look to help the team. We’ve worked a lot in these last two weeks, we’re a little bit better from the point of view of our condition. Objectives? We’re not placing limits.”
