Inter striker Mauro Icardi spoke to Argentinian news outlet El Grafico who have nicknamed the striker “Il Bambino d’oro” or, “The Golden Child”.
“Since I became captain of Inter, have I changed anything about my life? Nothing. I continue to be the same person I’ve always been. It would be wrong to change now. The media talks a lot about me because they can always benefit off making up stories. But those who speak do not know me, those who work or have worked with me have a very different view of me than the media does.
“The Argentinian then spoke about Inter coach Roberto Mancini: “Our relationship is good but, of course, as with any coach, there are moments when you feel the need to raise your voice and make him hear what he’s done wrong. It’s his job to carry the team forwards. The decision to give me the captain’s armband was Mancini’s with the consent of the whole managerial staff, and the team as a whole. The striker then spoke about Argentina’s coach: ”
Getting a call up from Sabella? I never thought he was trying to shun me by not calling me up. That’s never crossed my mind. The one time I was called up, it was difficult. I was having groin problems. I’m still young and I’ll have my opportunities. Getting a call up from Italy? I’ve always been happy at Italy’s interest in me, but I’ve said it and I’ll say it again; I’m Argentinian and I only want to play for my country.”
