Today president of the FIGC [Italian FA], Carlo Tavecchio, spoke to the media and touched upon a number of things including Antonio Conte’s future.
Before talking about the ethical committee’s decision to suspend Sepp Blatter for ninety days, Tavecchio spoke about the FIGC’s desire to continue with Conte at the helm of the national team. He told reporters,: “We are willing to extend Conte’s contract for another two years. Obviously it will depend on his willingness and on what happens in the Euros, Euros that we’d like to win of course.”
When asked about Blatter’s suspension, Tavecchio remained neutral but pointed out his consistency throughout his relationship with Blatter. He said,:
“I don’t want to comment on this. All I will say, however, is that even when he was being investigated I never gave him my consent.”
Tavecchio concluded his interview by giving his support to the ethical committee in regards to their decision. The FIGC president said,:
“If the ethical committee made this request, they probably the right motives.”
