The story of Ali Adnan is one that more Serie A fans should be aware of.
He may very well have been loading up the firearms in the fight against ISIS had it not been for Udinese’s impressive scouting system.
Today, Tuttomercatoweb released a feature on the left back outlining his struggles prior to arriving to Italy. It goes as follows,:
“When Udinese take a risk, they rarely make a mistake. In Ali Adnan’s case, however, his story is truly different. In his country, in Iraq, the left back established himself as a symbol of war against ISIS. When the player was seen in a picture with a bulletproof vest, many thought he was ready to put down the football boots, at least for the moment, and pick up the guns to fight. Luckily for Udinese, this didn’t happen and they’ve found yet another gem from a forgotten corner in the world especially when considering that football is the least of people’s worries there.”
